Romanian military sailors present in the Mediterranean
The Marine Hydrographic Ship “Alexandru Catuneanu” participates, during March 10-25, at the ARIADNE 19 multinational exercise, organized by the Hellenic Naval Forces. The ship left the port of Constanta on Sunday, March 10, headed toward the Souda port in the island of Crete, Greece, where it will integrate into a naval group of military ships of France, Germany, Greece, Italy and Spain.
The exercise is aimed at developing the level of training in a multinational framework in the specific field of the fight against underwater threats and contributes to the development of the multilateral relations between the Romanian Navy and the participating naval forces. With the presence of the Romanian military ship in the activities organized by the Alliance partners in the Mediterranean, Romania demonstrates that it is a credible partner and a security provider on the southern and eastern flank of NATO.
The Marine Hydrographic Ship “Alexandru Catuneanu” is commanded by Captain Commander Rogers CASIAN and has a crew of 57 soldiers.
